The news of the
devastation in Haiti inspired a group of employees at Cook
Engineering to organize an effort to help. They identified a
charitable group, based in Thunder Bay and currently doing work
in Haiti, called Lifewater Canada. Lifewater Canada is a “grass
roots” group focused on bringing clean, safe water to
communities by assisting them drill and operate wells. They have
completed a number of projects in both Africa and Haiti and are
dependant entirely on volunteers who travel, at their own
expense, to work on these projects. COOK ENGINEERING agreed to
match employee contributions, in effect doubling the donation.
The Cook team
responded enthusiastically, quickly raising $1,105 which was
matched for a total of $2,210. Further, the Canadian government
is matching contributions until February 12th, which
in effect quadrupled the original donation amount given by the
employees for a total donation of $4,420 in support of Lifewater
Canada’s good work.
Many thanks and
congratulations to all those who contributed their time, effort,
and money in this commendable effort –Well done!
